What is ultrasound scanning?
Ultrasound is based on the creation of images by means of sound waves. The sound waves are emitted by a scanner. Some of the waves are reflected back and received by the scanner. The sound waves return various signals, depending on what they hit. This difference in signals is the basis for creating the image. It is the same principle by means of which a bat orients itself and is the basis of an echo sounder, which fishermen used to locate schools of fish.
