Anaesthesia
Anaesthesia is a broad speciality that focuses not only on anaesthesia per se in connection with operations but also on the treatment of chronic post-operative pain. It includes intensive and pre-hospital treatment.
When you are operated on at Ciconia, you will need both anaesthesia and pain treatment. A consultation with your anaesthetist before your operation will ensure that you receive the optimum anaesthetic and subsequent pain relief.
Previously, patients were fully anaesthetized and so were unconscious during operations. However, it is now possible for some interventions to be done with various forms of local anaesthesia. The type of anaesthesia recommended depends on the type of intervention. It may be a question of anaesthetizing the wound itself, one or more nerves or perhaps the spinal-cord.
